These walks on Vitosha can be accessed via Bistritsa, a village on the east side of the mountain, about twenty kilometres from Sofia. This village is best reached by car from the ring road, or there are several buses that will drop you in the centre (buses 69, 70, 98, and 314). Both walks from Bistritsa involve taking Stefan Stambolov Street from the centre and following it for 2.9 kilometres. The walks begin where this street ends in the mountain, so if travelling by public transport you need to factor in an extra six kilometres plus the journey time from Sofia.
