Most of the walks in this book are on the north side of Vitosha, the side of the mountain that faces Sofia and offers easier access. I have, however, included three walks on the south side of the mountain, since it offers a different perspective. It takes about an hour, normally by car, to reach the villages on this side: Kladnitsa and Chuypetlovo if you travel west around the mountain, via Knyazhevo and Vladaya; Yarlovo if you travel east, via Bistritsa and Zheleznitsa.
